I Am More Happy Than Not Tag

Hello everyone! So I know I have many great tags to get to but this is a new one I’ve recently been tagged in but couldn’t wait to do. The I Am More Happy Than Not Tag was created by Shelumiel @Bookish and Awesome but originally made in response to the “What makes you #MoreHappyThanNot?” question inspired by Adam Silvera’s upcoming debut More Happy Than Not. (You all know I adored Simon in Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda. Well I discovered this title from Becky Albertalli’s praise. I am so psyched for this release! So the rush for this tag was partially due to the upcoming release date as well, hehe.)

The Rules –

  1. Answer the question in whatever way you prefer, whether it be a list or in a narrative form.
  2. Link back to the original creator’s post.

Update May 17, 2015: Sorry I lied, one more rule that I’m sure Shelumiel would really appreciate. Make sure to add your link to the link collector (or whatever those are called) on his original post! It’ll be cool to see how many bloggers participated, and Shelumiel can see his handiwork on getting this tag started. I’m sure he’d love to read your response to this tag!

So let’s get started, shall we?

HAPPY

Mine doesn’t look that great compared to Shelumiel’s but it was still fun to draw all the emojis!

Even though my TBR pile is forever growing and it feels like I’ll never ever be able to finish it, I am more happy than not.

Sometimes when I leave the bookstore with so many impulse buys and my reflected bank account balance makes me regret the spree, I am still more happy than not.

I complain about  school and often wish to graduate sooner but I think of the many friends and memories I’ve made through univ, and I am more happy than not.

Whenever I make plans but then it starts to pour with heavy rain, I am able to see the plants and trees soak up the well-needed water, for that I am more happy than not.

I know I’m not as witty or eloquent as other bloggers when it comes to writing for this blog yet I am still glad I have a platform to share my thoughts, I am more happy than not.

I get ARC envy when I see bloggers review a highly coveted book. However, I do think they deserve it and I do share their excitement for the release, so I am still more happy than not.

I sometimes have bouts of wanderlust and get exasperated for my lack of traveling but then I think of the times I’ve been homesick during short trips, so I am more happy than not.

When I read an ebook but curse that I should have gotten a physical copy, I try to remind myself that I am still reading a fantastic book, I am more happy than not.

I am in no way a morning person, so those tough mornings I wake up thankful that I did, and I am more happy than not.

I’m definitely an awkward individual and introvert, but I try to remind myself to be more appreciative of my identity. In those moments of thought, I am certainly more happy than not.

And I tag –

I really think that this is a tag worth doing, that’s why I’m technically tagging everyone. It really does make you feel so much brighter and humble afterwards. Thank you for tagging me Shelumiel, I hope you don’t mind that I’ve tagged some more blogs to do this. It was so fun! Have a fantastic weekend everyone! 😀

I didn’t even know that this was a tag when I saw it on his blog, but it really does bring out the positivity in a person, so I’m really excited to do it. Thanks for tagging me! And I hope you don’t mind if it takes me a while to post it. I kind of fell behind on all my tags and nominations :/

Yeah, I don’t think Shelumiel intended this to be a tag when he originally posted it, but then he sent an email explaining the post and tagged some people. And that’s totally fine!! Please, take your time. I have so many tags/awards neglected in the queue right now as well, so I totally understand. 🙂

Thank you, Summer! There’s so much in here! So allow me to make a list:

    1. There’s reason to be excited for More Happy Than Not! As I’ve already mentioned in the email, it’s a heartrending, strong debut.
1.a. Becky is good friends with Adam. And, I don’t know if you know Jasmine Warga and David Arnold too, but together, they make the Beckminavidera. Now, I have yet to read David’s Mosquitoland, but Jasmine’s My Heart and Other Black Holes is another strong addition to the recent rise in YAs dealing with depression and mental illness. So their group is legit ass-kicking! They’re all debut authors, btw.
    2. I love sticky notes! And I’m glad you made your own graphic; those are adorable emojis!
    3. One day, all our TBR piles will just topple over us and THE END.
    4. I know this is a very adult-thing to say but CHERISH your time at the university.
    5. There are moments where I’m overwhelmed by the feeling that nobody really likes my blog and that I just babble around.
    6. I get ARC envy, too! Especially since I live outside US/UK.
    7. I guess most of us are introverts?

Again, thank you so much for doing the tag (and I totally want you to tag other people)!

PS. I’ve included a link collector (? Omg I don’t know the proper term) in my original post, so you can add your link to that.

I wasn’t sure about Becky and Adam but that’s what I thought! They seemed really close when Becky was promoting her debut last month. And I’ve heard great things about My Heart and Other Block Holes and Mosquitoland but haven’t had the chance to buy those just yet. I’ll make sure to add those in my next book spree. Thank you! I’m not sure how any of us could top your watercolor painting though. It’s so cute and is a really cool rendition of the book cover, I think.
And YES, those TBR piles are ridiculously SCARY. As for being an introvert, you’re right. I guess there’s a reason why bloggers feel so comfortable on these social platforms. Not that I’m insinuating you can’t be an extrovert and a blogger…

Thanks for your carefully written comment. And hurrah for the “link collector,” haha. XD I’ll make sure to add that you have this link collecting thing on your blog as another rule for the tag on this post, so you can check out the responses to this awesome tag. 🙂

I think your post-it notes look adorable 🙂 and thanks for tagging me! I liked reading all your more happy than not sentences. It seems like a fun tag. I too am a introvert and unintentionally get myself into awkward situations XD

Thanks so much! 😀 And you’re not the only one. I feel like I tend to initiate all those awkward pauses in the group. Ugh, I literally can hear crickets chirping in my head in those moments. 😛

Love the positivity here! Even though we might need to feel unhappy at times to honor pain or loss, it is important to get back on our feet when we are ready, and this post exemplifies that renewed strength. Thank you for sharing and for tagging me. 🙂

Thanks, Thomas! I really thought it’d be something you’d be interested in doing if you ever got the chance one day. I found the whole process of making this liberating and it really brightened my day. And thanks for all the kind comments! I know you’re really busy and have a hard time replying to your comments on your blog, so it really means a lot to me that you came by!

Haha, sometimes wordpress gets funky and pingbacks don’t work properly when I link home page addresses. :/ I was hoping that all the people I tagged got a chance to see this and know they got tag though. (I was literally taking a 50/50 chance with you since you’ve kind of changed platforms and rebooted you site to look more awesome, haha.)
But I look forward to reading you answers, David! (And hurrah, I made it to sister status!)

Hahah and I’m glad you did 🙂

Happy to know that it actually looks better lol! Thanks for the feedback and I will definitely be going about to the post as soon as I can. But considering how much workload I have for the coming weeks and me having something awesome coming up in my next podcast, it might not be any time soon but nevertheless, it will come. I promise!

Talk to you again lil’ sis. Do take care of yourself yeah? 😉

I’ve stared at this and am unsure how to reply. I’ve also opened a document to start this tag (since the tag via email) and it is indeed blank. All I can really say is that I smiled on the inside reading this. I mean, I could amplify these positive vibes but just acknowledging and embracing the difference in what makes you ‘more happy than not’ is surely enough…right?

    Cheers,
    Joey

Summer! What a nice surprise. 🙂 Now I understand more about your emoji game; the graphic is superb. I’m way behind in my reading and just barely hanging on with writing but I make progress. And, I’m more happy than not 🙂 Thank you for the tag, This one I shall do, no matter what. I loved your list. It just confirms what a wonderful and positive person you are. So, I must work on a special graphic for this to celebrate the occasion. Keep on keeping on 🙂
