Hi! So it’s been a while since I’ve done a tag so I thought I’d post this one, the Would You Rather Book Tag. Two cuties, Casey @Inspired by the Page and Tasha @Head in the Clouds, Heart in the Books, tagged me; make sure to visit their blogs! Thank you both for tagging me, this looks like fun!
Alright, so onto the tag!
1. Would you rather only read trilogies or only read standalones?
I do tend to enjoy reading series a little more, but I find that contemporary reads are usually much better as standalones. I feel like I have a hard time investing in normal characters/storylines before I get bored when it comes to more realistic fiction. (This may just be me though, I love fantasy/paranormal a lot, haha.)
2. Would you rather only read male or female authors?
Why limit oneself? Both have interesting perspectives, and I find it really cool when a female writer writes a male MC (like Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, Albertalli must have had a difficult time writing not only a male protagonist but a gay one; I think her being female also made me even more pleasantly surprised and happy with the book) well and vice versa.
3. Would you rather shop at Barnes and Noble or Amazon?
I actually really don’t like Barnes and Noble. We have a lot of them here on the eastern U.S. coast but I really dislike their interior set up. It looks so… cluttered. There’s a lot of standing kiosks/table things with “best ya titles” or some kind of recommendation. They really distract me and always make me forget my original purpose for the bookstore trip, that may be the point though (they are sly). But ultimately, if this question is asking me if I prefer buying in store or online? I’d say in store, just because we should support our local bookstores if we can. Also, bookstores always have a Starbucks or cafe (I don’t drink coffee but I admit the smell is lovely; I usually opt for tea).
4. Would you rather books were made into TV shows or movies?
To be honest, I’m not a big movie/T.V. watcher (like the only show I’ve watched completely has been Nikita, I haven’t seen classic movies like Jurassic Park, etc.)? But I guess I’d choose movies since you invest less of your time with them. Plus, they’re not as addicting as shows. With shows you’re compelled to want to watch more (which is the point, haha), and I procrastinate enough as it is.
5. Would you rather read only 5 pages per day or 5 books per week?
Like everyone else who’s done this tag: WHAT TYPE OF QUESTION IS THIS?
6. Would you rather be a professional author or reviewer?
Definitely reviewer. I am not a great writer. At all. I enjoy trying to blog but I tend to keep writing in my life minimal (hence why I never took an English class ever again after high school). I do admire those of you all that write, read, and blog. That’s pretty awesome.
7. Would you rather be a librarian or a bookseller?
I’d choose bookseller just because I’d get wicked discounts!
8. Would you rather read only your favorite genre, or every other genre but your favorite?
I don’t particularly have a favorite genre but I do gravitate towards ya paranormal (gotta love those vampires). And I would hate myself if I had to read Erotica, so the former to answer the question.
9. Would you rather only read ebooks or physical books?
Physical copies, for sure. I do read ebooks sometimes but I mainly enjoy reading physical books just because they feel good in my hands and I like to actually flip the pages myself (sliding my finger of the screen seems lazy to me? I don’t know, my logic is failing me today). Also, I feel like I’m almost always on my laptop so not having to stare at an electronic screen while reading for pleasure is nice.
Wow, so how pointless! After looking at my answers, I feel like I didn’t choose a straight answer for some of them. I just kind of tiptoed around and was like “both” or “neither.” Regardless, I hope you all enjoyed! Thank you again, Casey and Tasha! And…

Yes, you definitely should! Some of the questions aren’t that great since they were no-brainers, but the tag is overall really fun! I’d love to read you answers. 🙂

Lol! All of your answers are pretty much on the point!
And then the question of 5 pages a day, is really worthless….
I have already done it on my blog 🙂

Haha, thanks, Warisha!
And nice, I’ll have to check it out. 🙂

It looks like a fun tag I hadn’t done this tag before. So, I’ll do it 🙂

I love do tags so it was really fun for me. I hope you enjoy answering the questions as much as I did, Raven!

This tag was really fun! What a great idea. Some of those questions were seriously tough. I might just have to have a go at this. 🙂

Becky! I just tagged you, so you should definitely do it. 😉

5 pages per day or 5 per week? What the?
I like the questions (other than that one), but like you, I think it’d be really hard to give a definitive answer. I want both!

Haha, exactly! You should consider doing this tag if you haven’t already, Kimberly. 🙂 It’s really fun!

Yea what kind of question is the 5 pages per day or 5 books per week…HAHA But I definitely agree with your answer in regards to the standalones and trilogy question. I do think that contemporary romance books are better off as standalones.
Great answers! I’ll definitely be doing this. Thanks for the tag, Summer. 🙂

Oh haha, I felt like the black sheep when I mentioned that. I know ya contemporary seems to be the dominating genre these days. And great, I look forward to reading your post. 🙂

The 5 pages per day vs 5 books per week question is so pointless!! Lol.
I agree that contemporary romance books are better off as standalones, although I suppose there are a few exceptions. 🙂 Nice answers! I did this tag already, but thank you for tagging me! XD

Ahh, I thought so! I’ve been putting my tags off for too long; everyone seems to have done these tags already. XD
And I’m (strangely) glad I’m not alone in that respect (the contemporary standalone, I mean). 🙂

Ha ha, don’t worry, it’s the same thing for me! I have a bunch of awards and tags ready to be posted (but haven’t yet) and I see that some of the people I have tagged already did it, lol. 🙂
Yep, of that, you are not alone! XD

I agree about B&N, the store isn’t conducive to browsing. I always feel uncomfortable there, it’s weird.

Exactly! I don’t know why but I always feel put off at B&N. I usually enjoy Books a Million a lot more, I love the atmosphere there!

Thanks for tagging me! 🙂 Love your answers! 🙂 I also find it hard at times to get immersed on some realistic fictions. I feel like everybody’s writing it all the same haha. And yup, 50 Shades of Grey? Not my cup of tea either

Thanks, Trisha! 🙂
And that’s precisely what I mean, the realistic fiction has to have an emotional oomph to make really set it apart from the many others I’ve read.

Great answers and I hesitate to go into B&N for the same reason. I get distracted, have to drink something, buy something else and when I get home I remember what I forgot. Doh!

Haha, exactly! This has happened to me on a number of occasions. I’m so glad I’m not the only one; for a moment there I thought I was really gullible since I’m so susceptible to distraction. 😛

Haha, I noticed your tiptoe-ing! AND NO FAIR YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE! I chose, and now I think I’m scarred… Regardless, I loved reading your answers!

…HEHE. 😉 Thank you again for tagging me; it was so much fun!

You are not alone, Summer! I find contemporary books fair better as standalones, unless the sequels are about side characters from the first book.
Great tiptoeing and I loved reading your answers! 🙂

Thanks, Tasha! Strangely, I am glad I’m not alone. I seriously thought I was the black sheep with that opinion, haha. And thank you again for tagging me!

It’s always good to know we’re not alone! I just realized I said fair better, not fare better. Oops, my bad!
You’re welcome, glad you had fun! 🙂

Haha, same here on TV and Movies. I barely make it through movies and end up leaving at the end just as it starts to get exciting. I’m always like “I know the hero is going to win and live happily ever after” -__-
I loved reading your answers! They were really interesting! I’ve actually done the tag, but thanks for tagging me anyway! ❤

Precisely! The cliches get in the way and I’m too bored to sit through the whole thing because of them.
And thanks, Trey! 😀 Omg, sorry! It took me so long to post this, so I had a feeling the people I tagged probably already did this…
LikeLiked by 1 person
Exactly! But I normally can sit through book to movie adaptations that I’ve read.
You’re welcome! No, no, that’s fine! I understand. Thanks for tagging me anyway!

Thanks for the tag! I enjoy reading your answers 🙂 I prefer contemporary standalones too. Book series are too much of a commitment! I’m not much of a TV or film watcher either recently but I have succumbed to watching Game of Thrones and its really good! I think I will start reading the books, even though they are 1000+ pages long!

You’re welcome! ^.^ I’ve heard so much about GoT but I haven’t gotten around to watching it yet. I’m pretty tempted to pick up the books too though! And completely different, but I really want to watch/read Outlander as well.

The books have so many characters O_O lucky there is the TV series to put a face to the many characters! I’ve briefly heard of Outlander but no idea what it’s about.

I’m not sure if you enjoy the historical fiction genre, but it’s basically a historical time travel series. I’m still pretty mindblown that this was published in the early 1990s and it’s now gotten a motion picture adaptation. I bet the fans are ecstatic.
And OH NO, I have a great aversion for books with a lot of characters…
LikeLiked by 1 person
Hmm not really… but I am open to read different genres, so I may check it out, thanks! Haha that’s the same with GoT, published in 1996, only now we have the TV series. But the author still has not finished writing it (2 more books to be released) and its been almost 4 years! Aw, maybe stick to the TV series then 😉
