Hi! So it’s been a little over a month since I’ve done a Top Ten Tuesday post and I thought this week’s topic would be fun since I don’t do book hauls that often. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly book meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and it’s a great way to see what other readers have on their shelves.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
by Stieg Larsson
From my Exploring My Bookshelves posts, you guys may have noticed my Stieg Larsson collection but I was always missing this first installment. I guess I can finally start this trilogy if I ever decide to. I mentioned “if” because you know how it is. #TBRpileproblems
The Winner’s Curse
by Marie Rowkowski Rutkoski (lol, butchered that name real bad prior to checking GR)
Ahh, this is a series I’ve been looking forward to reading for a very long time now. And the cover is just so pretty! For that reason, there’s no harm if I don’t like it. But I’ve only heard great things, I have my fingers crossed that I’ll like it too.
Under the Never Sky
Through the Ever Night
Into the Still Blue
(All three) by Veronica Rossi
I honestly have no clue what this trilogy is about other than it’s really awesome (the series has an average rating of 4.0+ on GR) and has a huge ya fanbase. All three installments were available on bookoutlet so I decided to go ahead and purchase them.
Persuasion
by Jane Austen
It should be no surprise that I’m an Austen fan. I absolutely loved Pride and Prejudice and enjoyed both of the film adaptations. Like don’t get me started on how perfect Colin Firth is as Mr. Darcy. Oh and I adore Keira Knightley, so her version is wonderful just because she’s in it. Also the soundtrack for that rendition is wonderful! Northanger Abbey is another great Austen read if you’re a fan of more Gothic elements similarly featured in Bronte’s Wuthering Heights. And Emma is one my GR has said I’ve been “currently reading” since March of this year… I really hope to finish it soon but it’s likely I’ll get to Persuasion just because it’s shorter. Oh and I’m kind of proud that I was able to snag the U.K. edition of this-the U.K. Penguin Classics are simple but so cute!
Burn for Burn
Fire with Fire
Ashes to Ashes
(All three) by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian
Yet another trilogy I’ve recently been able to haul. My relationship with Jenny Han’s books is really weird… I read her Summer trilogy and thought they were on the meh side, but it hasn’t stopped me from wanting to read her other books (I MEAN, WHO IS THIS PETER KAVINSKY??). I know that there’s a revenge plot in these so they kind of remind me of Gossip Girl or maybe the Private series (in a good way).
The Little Paris Bookshop
by Nina George
And this last one is a book I’ve recently received in the mail from Blogging For Books. I definitely recommend this site if you’re thinking about getting ARCs and galleys to review. They send you physical copies, and all you have to do is write a review and post it on your blog (and the BFB site) before you’re able to request another one. I think it’s great because you don’t have to worry about stats, getting approved, or your reading/reviewing ratio like Netgalley. The only downside is that most of the books available on there are all from Random House Publishing and most of the imprints are tailored toward the adult market-and I know a lot of you guys enjoy ya. But it’s still worth a try, especially if you want to read more adult books. Anyway, this book is about a Parisian bookseller that diagnoses his customers and recommends books that is tailored to what he thinks his customers lifestyles are. But don’t quote me on that-you know me, I like going into the books without reading the synopses.
So today I was perusing my drafts and gosh, have I been neglecting them. I literally have 25+ drafts and only 1 is a book review. I’m hoping to get around to posting some awards/tags in the next few weeks, so be on the lookout for those.
Oh, completely unrelated, but how do you guys feel about WP’s new look? I logged on yesterday and was so surprised with my reader. The expected time it takes to read a post at the bottom is really cool though!
Anyway, have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! 😀
The Winner’s Curse is so good! And Under The Never Sky is amazing!! I loved the whole trilogy. I really need to buy it.

My only fear of starting The Winner’s Curse is that I won’t be able to get the next installments fast enough because I’ve heard the series is quite addictive. And awesome, I’m so glad to hear that! I’m not sure where you live but I bought that entire trilogy last month for a little over $10 on bookoutlet. I have link here for you. 🙂

Aha yeah that is the hardest part! It’s been really hard waiting for each book. But it’s so worth it. Have you read anything else by Rutkoski? I loved The Shadow Society, it’s actually on my TTT this week.
I’ve seen a lot of people using BookOutlet lately but I’m honestly kind of skeptical. The prices almost seem too good to be true. And I’ve heard sometimes the books are in really bad condition.

No, I haven’t! I didn’t realize she had other books out other than The Winner’s Curse series. So I’ll check out The Shadow Society, thank you! And I’ve only had one bad book from bookoutlet but that was one of the scratch and dent ones-those S&D actually come in pretty good condition with, yeah, only a few scratches. I usually like my books to come in pristine condition (especially if I buy them at full price or upon release) but since bookoutlet offers them so cheap I’m pretty happy. My copies of those Veronica Rossi titles were all from there, so if you want you can click on my picture and see what they sort of look like up close.

She also has a Middle Grade series as well. Didn’t read much of it but was my first by her. If you do end up reading it I look forward to hearing what you think.
I mean, I buy from used book stores more often than not. So I little wear and tear doesn’t usually bother me. I might have to check it out. My go to is usually Book Depository but some of the books I want are a little high for me right now, especially for paperbacks.

Ahh, yes, do check out bookoutlet! The only downside is that there’s shipping… but if you buy a lot it’s worth it (and it’ll still probably be cheaper than BD). 🙂

I haven’t read any of the books you mentioned but I own a few of them and I’m really hoping to read some of the other ones. I have Burn for Burn and I love Jenny Han so I’m really hoping to get to that one soon. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it. 🙂

Great, I’m hoping the Burn for Burn trilogy will get me into Jenny Han’s books. If not, there’s still TAtBILB! ^.^

ThaNow for the Blogging for Books tip! I am going to check that out. I loved Dragon Tattoo, but I get that it’s not for everyone. Yay for Little Paris Bookshop! I’m excited to read that as well. 🙂 Great List!

Really looking forward to your thoughts on Winner’s Curse, that way I can determine how high it is on the evergoing TBR list.

I honestly wasn’t going to read The Winner’s Curse any time soon but I’m going to make a push to now. If everyone is telling me it’s an urgent read, it has to be good!

I don’t do TTT but I love reading these posts from blogs I follow. So yeah, welcome back! Haha! 🙂 Please tell me if Burn for Burn series is a good read. I’ve been meaning to buy it bc it’s Jenny Han but she collaborated with another author so the style’s probably different. 🙂

Thanks, Trisha! 🙂 I’ll let you know how I feel about Burn for Burn. There’s just so many books I want to read this summer (including rereading the Summer trilogy) but I really want to get to BfB soon. We’ll see!

Great haul!! Cute picture, too. I hope you enjoy these books. I’ve read Veronica Rossi’s Under the Never Sky trilogy and I loved it! It has some great world building, too. You also need read To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and meet Peter Kavinsky!!! I love him haha. Happy reading!

Thanks, Anjie! Same here, I hope we both enjoy Burn for Burn together. 🙂 And haha, I know. I actually learned of the great Peter Kavinsky from you, Carolyn, and Trisha. You all seem to adore him, so I’m pretty excited to find out who he is.

I like the new format of your TTT posts! And everything on your list is something that I was considering reading at some point. I don’t know if I really want to read the Burn for Burn series though. I have had many bad experiences with Jenny Han’s books….
I just got into trying to work Blogging for Books and it seems pretty interesting. I made an account forever ago but I never really tried to use it.
Ugh I’m so glad you asked that question because I’ve been needing an excuse to rage about it.
1. I hate the new system because every time I try to scroll back up to the post to check something when I’m commenting, I end up clicking back to my feed and losing my comment. Every time. And then sometimes I just don’t want to rewrite it and I end up liking the post instead because I’m lazy like that.
2. I also don’t like how it makes everything white. I liked the previous vers with the popup post thing.
3. I do like the new time estimate thing though. It lets me figure out what I should read now and what to leave for later.

Thank you, Kelly! I’m pretty skeptical of the Burn for Burn series but I guess we’ll see. And me too! I can’t exactly pinpoint it but something about this new reader makes me feel a little off. It could just be because it’s change, and I often dislike adjusting. However, I think I’m getting used to the white, microsoft word-like thing when you’re reading a post now. But at first I missed the pop up reader, too. And right after we noticed the time estimate thing, WP changed it. I guess they thought it was too hard to calibrate an average reading time for everyone, so there’s word count as well now.

I’ve read the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo a while ago. I think I rated it a 3.5 stars. The mystery aspect of it was really interesting and Lisbeth is a very tough character. The beginning of the novel was mostly about swedish politics, which was like a info dump I haven’t bothered to pick up the next two books but I’m sure it’s good!

I don’t know much about GwtDT but I know it delves into some deep topics, so I’m looking forward to it! Thanks for the heads up with info dump, I’ll have to keep that in mind! 🙂

Thanks, Assia! I actually did! I usually like to take my posts inside, being the lazy bum I am, but the natural lighting in my reading room wasn’t working out since it was so gloomy outside. So I tried taking it outdoors before it started to rain. XD

I love The Burn for Burn series. It’s about girls plotting revenge! It is very awesome but I haven’t read the third book. I’ve heard not good things about it which scares me… Have you read her other books though? (specifically TATBILB) LOVE THAT SO MUCH!!! The Winner’s Curse is also in my TBR. The cover is beautiful and I should probably get to that soon. Under the Never Sky trilogy is also really good! Action with swoon worthy feels! I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on this book! We’ll definitely fangirl about it when your done. 🙂

Oh gosh, I’m so relieved to hear that a lot of these are pretty good. I can’t wait to start them! And I’ve actually only read the Summer trilogy by Jenny Han. I wasn’t a fan… but I’m still going to give TatBILB a try and, of course, the Burn for Burn trilogy now that i have them. And, if you really enjoyed the trilogy so far, I say go for it (Ashes to Ashes). Don’t worry about the bad reviews, you may like it! 🙂

Please tell me once you’ve read TATBILB!!!! I hope you like it so we can talk about the feels! I find that this book is so much better than The Summer Series! Yeah, will give ashes to ashes a go cause the I loved the first two. 🙂

I’ll definitely give TaTBILB a try when I get my hands on a copy. 🙂
