Inactivity (Not Discontinuity!) and No Strings Attached Award

Blog Update (Inactivity and No Strings Attached Award)

Hi everyone,

By the time you read this I will probably be in class. This is actually my first time scheduling a post so I hope it works. I just wanted to give you guys a quick blog update. (And I apologize in advance for the many parenthetical phrases and bursts of emojis, which was due to my recent discovery of this WP Smilies guide…)

I’ve hinted this in my recent posts (and it’s probably been pretty evident this past month) but you may see a few changes on Xingsings. Because of my fall schedule, some pharmacy internships, and possible research (if I get it) this semester I’ll be even more inactive than ever. It won’t be abnormal for me to post only once a week or even a couple of times a month, which probably isn’t too different from my usual 2-3 posts a week but it’s still a change. I just thought I’d give you all the heads up!

However, I’ll still be around the blogosphere checking in with you guys. Instead of leaving the usual Summer bombs, aka the (sometimes) ridiculously long comments by yours truly, I’ll probably just be commenting when I can and opting for WP’s like option. And, of course, I’ll still try my best to reply to comments, because talking and getting to know you guys more truly is the best!

You also might’ve noticed that I’ve been doing a lot of tags and very few book reviews lately. And I feel so guilty about that. Though tags and memes are all fun, I don’t want my blog to be mostly comprised of them so expect a couple (actually, maybe a lot) of book reviews coming your way soon. I’ve also joined a couple of St. Martin’s Press blog tours, so be on the lookout for those discussions, reviews, and giveaways (I feel like it’s going to fail so bad but I hope some of you will consider entering if you’re interested). And like I confessed last month, I want to create more discussion posts to interact with everyone. So I also have a few Summer Says posts already drafted. Look forward to those too! 🙂

Another thing, I’ll also be absent from Twitter and Instagram. I’ll still be posting some updates that reflect what I post on my blog, but it’s likely I won’t be replying to tweets that quick (the usual hours it takes for me to reply could possibly be days or weeks now…) or checking my feed (not that I was very good about that before school started anyway). For some of you, that’s our default form of communication. Sorry… 😥 However, I’ll still be pretty active on Goodreads. I can’t stay away from that one. I love updating my shelves. 😎

Lastly, this would have been a weird post by itself so I decided to pair it up with this blog update: The No Strings Attached Award! I was nominated by the kindest Daniel (thank you! You are, as you always say, awesome to the max! 😉 ) at Hyperion Sturm. He’s a writer, and I suggest you read some of his posts. A lot of his series are so fun and insightful!

The No Strings Attached Award is an unique award where, as the name suggests, does not require anything from the bloggers nominated. It’s just another way for bloggers to recognize blogs they respect and enjoy.

Initially, I wasn’t going to nominate anyone and just direct you to my other award posts if you wanted to make new friends, follow other book bloggers, or find new blogs to read. In those posts, I nominated a good many people and kind of blurbed about them. However, then I thought I’d recognize the first ten blogs I’ve followed since beginning this blog in January. And like my other award posts, hover over the links to see messages.

  1. Thomas at The Quiet Voice
  2. Erika at Erika in Bookventureland
  3. Trisha at The Bookgasm
  4. Cassandra at Read All About It
  5. Maria at Big City Bookworm
  6. Ashley at Dreamingthroughliterature
  7. Kimberly Come Hither Books
  8. Shelby at Bookish Royalty
  9. Joey at Thoughts and Afterthoughts
  10. Alysyn at Reinreads

Some of these blogs don’t even participate in memes, tags, and awards, but I thought I’d mention them anyway. And, of course, feel free to ignore this nomination if you’re not up to posting it. I know this award is a bit of an oddball on it’s own. 😛

That’s it! Hope you all are doing well. And those of you that have started or are about to start school: good luck! 😀

Until next time,
Summer

P.S. I’m not sure why I made this in a letter format… I guess I felt like it? LOL. XD

Thank you for the tag and the lovely comments! 🙂 ❤ Hopefully we will get the chance to talk more soon even though you’ll be busy! I’m in the same boat right now trying to manage my book blogging life with my full time job. It’s hard but totally worth it! 😀 I wish you all the best! ❤

Good luck on your internship and studies, Summer! Wishing you all the best! 😀

Hopefully we’ll still be able to interact from time to time on here even though you and I are pretty much on the same boat when it comes to being inactive here. HAHA

Thank you for the nomination as well! ❤

You’re welcome, Erika! ❤ And thank you so much! And haha, I have noticed quite a number of times that we’re like blogging twins, which isn’t a bad thing. 😉 Hope you’re enjoying your time off from blogging these days as well!

    To the Kernel who escaped:

Your words are sweet but the intent is everything more. I picked you as much as you picked me. A euphoric journey from ingestion to digestion. Except not. Summer, you claimed; smiling through and through. But a piece of you left; lost but never forgotten. Into the cycle. Another seasons wait. Summer into Summer.

Lost but found again, and brighter than ever.

    Cheers,

(LMAO IF YOU TOOK ANY OF THIS COMMENT SERIOUSLYYYYYYYY BECAUSE I AIN’T EVEN KNOW WHAT I’M SAYING. THANK YOU FOR THE TAG [OBVIOUSLY] BECAUSE YOU JUST MADE ME ADD ANOTHER ENTRY INTO THE FOLDER OF NEVERENDING TAGS TO DO…)

      Dear Mr. CW:
Though nothing really registered as I read that other than the fact that you squeezed in Summer three times but still addressed me as corn, thank you for the nonsensical, poetic letter. “Summer into Summer” is ambiguous, but I’ll embrace the artist in you and just accept it as it is, with no explanation (I hear Wesaun GRRR-ing somewhere in the distance).

      (BUT YEAH, YOU’RE WELCOME, JOEY.)

I do hope you can get all you hope for out of this semester. It’s so important even though sacrifices have to be made, it’s worth it in the end. Best of luck and remember to smile during the hard parts. 🙂

I’ll miss your regular postings and sunny beautiful self, Summer, but I completely understand that real life is more important and blogging regularly can be such a strain! I’m glad it isn’t actually goodbye and that I’ll still get to see your posts– I was about to get out the tissues. All the best of luck for your internship and possible research opportunity hun!

Thanks so much, Aentee! You’re so right, blogging burnout happens and it’s good to take a step back and remind oneself this is only a fun hobby. But I’m pretty bummed that I’ll be missing out on a lot of updates from other bloggers, but I’m also looking forward to the events in my real life. Thank you for the continual support and kind words, Aentee! Best of luck to you as well (since now you’re a part of the cute potato clan; congratulations on joining Faye’s blog, once again)!

I’ll miss your Summer bombs! Thanks for always leaving me such long and kind comments. Good luck with your internships and your research. I know how hard the research life is T_T and I think it’s great that you’re strong enough to step back and prioritise your career. Look forward to seeing your future posts!

Aw I’m going to miss your regular posts! Good luck with university and your pharmacy internships! I completely understand why you have to prioritise your studies than blogging. Glad this isn’t goodbye. Wishing you all the best. And thank you for your comments, it’s been lovely talking to you! ^_^

I’m going to miss your comments and posts 😦 I did notice that you weren’t posting as many book reviews but I figured it was probably life. It’s great to hear that your doing great at school so far! I hope you get that research opportunity! Good luck with your semester and don’t get too stressed! 🙂

Thanks so much for the support, Kelly! Precisely, I’ve been in a very bad reading/blogging slump even though there are some NG arcs I need to read and review. And yes, life has been so busy. But you know how it is since you’re pretty busy yourself. And thank you! All the best to you as well, Kelly! APs and the SAT/ACT, you got this. Fighting~!

I like your planner, I got a purple one from Staples. Its going to be hard for me to post a lot because of school. I’m trying to make all my posts for the next few weeks done this weekend, wonder how that will work ^.^

    • Summer @ Xingsings says:

Thanks, Lucia! I have to confess that I’m not using it as much as I like to. I rely on electronic calendars too much, plus iCalendar is so convenient in that it syncs to all the shared electronics in the house. And ahh, I know what you mean. I’ve been pretty inactive unfortunately. I don’t like to schedule posts that much but I’m starting to warm up to the idea because of my busyness. Anyway, good luck with school, Lucia!

Thank you! Good luck with life, I guess ( I can’t remember if you said you were in school or not) Anyway, scheduling posts really does help, that way people don’t get bored from reading the same post.Sometimes its hard with answering comments or reading other posts by people but I try to get to those on the weekends, as well as make some new posts. 😉

Being busy is the worst! It’s exciting that you have all those new things, but I know I always miss my blog. Good luck with everything though!! 🙂 I liked the letter format, it was kind of cool. And the tag is a very cute idea
Thanks for visiting Addlepates and Book Nerds (like 4 days okay, but I keep procrastinating) 😛
