Versatile Blogger Award (2nd and Last One)

Versatile Blogger Part. 2

This was my first week back to school and, gosh, I’m already swamped with assignments. Since starting college I’ve always had a full load of sciences (meaning usually all my courses are the core sciences), but this spring I’m taking a history (of science and technology) and classics (Greek/Latin mythology) course. The majority of classes I took before had only three to five exams and homework that was not graded and was done at the students’ own benefit (but I didn’t do it all the time), so I’m finding that it’s crazy the amount of reading we have to do for the non-science classes I’m taking this time around. But hopefully the classics course will get me reading some classics and some other text I never got to in high school English and Latin classes. It’s going to be a lot of work I’m not used to but it should be fun nonetheless.

Anyway, I wanted to share an award post with you guys today. (Oh and this is a scheduled post. I literally have 20 scheduled posts in my queue to be published for the next couple of months. And if you guys didn’t already notice my disclaimer on the side of my blog, I wanted to say that I won’t be replying to comments as fast as I usually do because of school. But I’m still going to be blog hopping and trying to stay updated with all of your blogs as much as I can. I think that’s the best balance right now with my current schedule.)

Kind of like what happened with the my Liebster award posts, which really does seem ages ago, I didn’t think I’d be getting any more nominations. But I did! So I have these bloggers to thank: Trey at Trey Schnarr Books, Alex at Alextheshadowgirl, Khloud at A Bookworm’s Ramblings, and Matt at MatthewSean Reviews. Funny story with Trey… I actually told him that I wasn’t going to be doing another Versatile Blogger Award post since I already made one but since the others tagged me soon after that… I was like why not! So he’ll be showing up on both of my Versatile Blogger Award posts. XD

Note: This is a 2015 award, meaning I was first nominated in 2015. I’m just trying to go through all the awards and tags from my 2015 queue. But I am an tag/award free blog in that I won’t be doing any more tags/awards after I go through the 2015 drafts. Sorry for the confusion!

The Rules –

  1. Thank the person who gave you this award. That’s common courtesy.
  2. Include a link to their blog. That’s also common courtesy — if you can figure out how to do it.
  3. Next, select 15 blogs/bloggers that you’ve recently discovered or follow regularly.
  4. Nominate those 15 bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award — you might include a link back to the post on your site announcing their nomination.
  5. Finally, tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself.

Oh gosh, well I sure didn’t remember the rules being so sassy, lol. XD

7 Facts About Me –

  1. I wear closed toe shoes year round. Even when it’s sweltering hot in the summer. When I was in the second grade (seven/eight years old) one of the nail technician in my dad’s salon accidentally stepped on my big toe and it got a infection. (No worries, it’s completely normal now.) Since then, I’ve had a fear of people stepping on my feet.
  2. Speaking of fears, along with people stepping on my toes and sharks, I have a fear of going to see the dentist. Thankfully, my family dentist is gentle… but I hate people prodding in my mouth and touching my teeth. Not to mention, bleeding in one’s mouth freaks me out terribly. When I was in 10th grade (roughly fifteen years old) I had this awful nosebleed when I was sleeping. It took me two hours at the doctor’s to drain all the blood between my nasal and sinus cavity.
  3. Another fear I have is sneezing while driving. Mainly because I tend to close my eyes in the seconds that the events happens. And that kind of worries me. XD (But yeah. Fear of dentist visits, fear of sharks, fear of sneezing while driving, and fear of public speaking. That’s about it; I think I’ve shared all of them with you!)
  4. Even though I have really bad vision, it’s likely you’ll never see me with my glasses on. (Apparently I have a certain type of astigmatism where it makes wearing contacts difficult, so I don’t wear those either.) Honestly, I’ve learned to adapt with the blurriness. I was four years old when I got my first glasses though. Pretty young, huh?
  5. As you guys know I really enjoy watching Asian dramas during my breaks and free time from school, but my absolute favorite Asian drama genre is historical/period shows. Perhaps I’m deluding myself with reasoning I’m learning from these shows (but I really do)! They’re often 50+ episodes, but I never get tired of them. They’re guilty pleasures, I guess.
  6. Quite random, but I’ve never been to a (American) football game which is kind of regarded as being sacrilegious since I’m from the south, where everyone is very attentive towards football (then again most of America is like that)! I’m more of an Olympics and World Cup fan. 😉
  7. And it’s not a true fact list if I don’t mention food… I love potatoes so, so much. I could eat them everyday for the rest of my life. In fact, I nearly eat at least one potato a day. We’re always stocked up on them at home because of me.

I Nominate –

Well, all of my usual blogger buddies have done this post (or it’s likely I already nominated them in my first Versatile Blogger Award post), so I’m just going to jump to the five bloggers I want to get know and genuinely think deserve this tag.

These all happen to be my Bookstagram buddies so I’ll be adding their gorgeous Instagram accounts next to their blog links.

Thank you for tuning it. I hope you all have a nice day! 🙂

Good luck for your classes, Summer! I hope, when you’re reading this comment, that you’re enjoying what you’re doing 🙂 ❤
I don’t like going to the dentist’s either, it’s just plain weird, and annoying, plus, I can’t not swallow for minutes, it’s driving me crazy, staying open-mouthed like that!
And yay for the Olympics! I really like watching that, and we don’t have much longer to wait, yay!! 😀

Fabulous post! I have the exact same problem with my eyes and wearing glasses. I have astigmatism too, but because of the way glasses correct that problem, I can’t wear them too long without getting a headache. So I just don’t wear them, even though I probably should, cos I’m slightly short sighted as well. I kind of want my optician to stop trying to correct my astigmatism, cos then I could just wear contact lenses for the distance. I also hate going to the dentist- which is partly due to my fear of basically anyone in the medical profession. And potatoes are awesome 😀

Thank you! Oh my goodness, I think you’re the first person to have shared my sentiments about not wearing glasses. I feel like it makes my eyesight worse, honestly. I mean not while I’m wearing them, of course, but when I take them off I feel like my eyesight is extra blurry. It’s probably bad to wear them and take them off though since your eyes are getting used to different corrections… so that’s why I hardly wear mine as well! And agreed, most people in the medical profession are quite scary. It’s not stopping me from becoming one of them one day though. XD

How could anyone not love potatoes? I can eat them any way but hash browns are probably my favourite thing in the world. And potato chips, though recently I’ve gotten into sweet potato chips. Hahaha I also am a bit scared of sneezing when driving! Like what if my sneeze causes me to swerve?!

When you say chips are those fries or actually flat junk food chips? Sweet potato fries are a southern classic where I live and I love them so much! And oh my gosh, I thought I was being weird about that fear. I’m glad I’m not the only one who has a fear of sneezing while I’m driving… XD

Asian contemporaries dramas make me cringe or laugh for the cheesiness most of the time, but something about the historical ones makes me feel like I’m sort of learning even though it’s entertainment. I don’t know, haha. Thank you, Alyssa! Yup, I’ve been a happy dumpling with all the scheduling. 😀

Aww thank you for this tag Summer! ❤ I totally need to get caught up with my award posts xD hehe. And omg, I HATE going to the dentist! I always dread going there because I hate people touching my mouth and poking me and the needles! Ugh so scary x.x lol. You should totally recommend me some historical asian dramas (: I’ve always wanted to watch one but I lose interest kind of quickly xD

You’re so welcome, Cherry! (: And haha, don’t we all have to catch up on our award/tag posts? They can be accumulated so quickly! And I’d recommend you Empress Ki because it’s very fast pace and there’s an intriguing plot. If you want something a mix of contemporary/historical Sungkyunkwan Scanadal, Rooftop Prince, and The Moon That Embraces the Sun are great. And my favorite Chinese ones are Legend of the Condor Heroes and Bu Bu Jing Xin; but those are much slower in pace!

Luckily not as quickly as bookstagram tags xD I started Rooftop Prince but I never got a chance to keep watching it, I’ll definitely add those to my list though! Thanks for all your recommendations Summer (: I really appreciate it!

This was a really fascinating post Summer! WOW you’ve done so well to get adapted to your blurry vision, I’m short sighted but it isn’t too bad but I still wear glasses everywhere lol. Potatoes are so freaking delicious! Yeah, I have a fear of dentists as well because I had to get poked by anaesthetic like 8 times because a trainee did it when I was getting 4 teeth pulled out and it wasn’t numb…

    • Summer @ Xingsings says:

Oh my gosh, how horrible! I can’t even imagine the pain you were in when you had your teeth pulled out without the anesthesia working… :/ And, haha, I’ve heard that either not wearing or wearing your glasses is good as long as your not switching back and forth between wearing, if that makes. So hopefully both our eyesights are improving? Haha.

I tried avoiding wearing my glasses for two years. (I HATED glasses. I don’t even know why, honestly XD) I used to carry them around in my pockets, and my mom killed me half a dozen times because I lost over five pairs of glasses. It was terrible. I’m pretty sure “losing my glasses” again was a real fear back then. I love wearing them now though – they’re more a bookish/fashion statement than I actually need them, but they’re a part of me now. A fear of mine? Porbably cockroaches. I still have nightmares about them, hehe.

I LOVED YOUR FACTS. All of them were fascinating (and yas, potatoes. I could live off them. And how VERSATILE they are, if you’ll excuse the pun 😉 ) Congrats on the award, Summer ❤

Haha, that’s very interesting! I think another part of why I don’t wear my glasses is that I haven’t found the right pair that I really love yet. It really changes your outlook about them when you like how you feel in them, I think. And oh my gosh, cockroaches are pretty disgusting and creepy. shudders My best friend has a huge fear of them. To the point I can’t even say the word, she just hates them, haha. And aww, thanks so much, Nirvana! ❤

I always wear closed toe shoes as well! Even in the summer. I just don’t like sandals much lol, so I’d just wear vans. I have a fear of the dentist as well! I think everyone does. Speaking of which I need to visit the dentist :O I’m dreading it. Props to you for adapting to the blurriness! I went running once without glasses or contacts, no accidents so far lol. I like baked potatoes XD

I haven’t tried any Vans yet but they look stylishly cute. I love how simple they look. I usually like to wear Nike trainers since they look much slimmer than most tennis shoes. Right now I’m loving a pair in lilac. And oh no! I hope your dentist visit wasn’t too bad (I think you’ve probably gone by now since I took forever to reply to this comment, haha). And baked potatoes literally give me life. I love them plain with some salt. 😀

I always love how you give updates on your life before jumping to the actual post. Ahh it makes me miss school so bad! That sounds like a ton of school works! I bet you’re excited for spring break now. Good luck, Summer!

OMG sneezing while driving is so hilarious. I actually haven’t thought about getting into an accident at such split second but yeah it’s very very likely.

    • Summer @ Xingsings says:

I only do that because I notice all my tag/award posts start all the same. But thanks for noticing, Trisha! And I know. ): I still haven’t gotten in the groove of all the school work yet but hopefully I’ll get back into it soon. Thanks so much!

Right?! It’s totally a valid fear! XD
