The Coffee Book Tag

I was tagged by Shelumiel at Bookish and Awesome to do The Coffee Book Tag back in June and I’m finally getting around to posting it. This tag will sort of be like the Burrito Bowl Book Tag where I didn’t exactly eat burrito bowls (the vegetarian ones aren’t that fun) but could still relate to the bookish questions. I don’t usually drink coffee unless it’s sugared up. Some evidence:

(The middle photo is hot chocolate by the way.) But I haven’t had one of these in a while. After my first cavity in 2015… I’ve completely given up on sweets believe it or not. So yeah! Now, I’ve returned to my bout of excessive tea drinking. I already glanced at the questions and noticed there were some for people that appreciate tea. Hurrah. Oh and before I forget… Thank you for the tag, Shelumiel! (I hope you’ve been enjoying your travels with work.)

Note: This is a 2015 tag, meaning I was first tagged in 2015. I’m just trying to go through all the awards and tags from my 2015 queue. But I am an tag/award free blog in that I won’t be doing any more tags/awards after I go through the 2015 drafts. Sorry for the confusion!

BLACK
A series that’s tough to get into but has hardcore fans.
I think for me it would be either A Song of Ice and Fire (better known as Game of Thrones) or Outlander. I believe I have both of the first installments to those series on my Goodreads TBR but I doubt I’ll ever pick them up. The books are humongous. However, I know they are much adored.

A book that gets more popular during the winter or a festive time of year.

HOT CHOCOLATE
A favorite children’s book.
My personal favorite would be Millions of Cats. I think I’m more of a dog person now but I really loved cats so much growing up. We had this black and white neighborhood cat when I was a kid. I fed her everyday; she was so adorable!

DOUBLE SHOT OF ESPRESSO
A book that kept you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.
The Hunger Games, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The Clockwork Princess, and Blood Promise to name a few.

STARBUCKS
A book you see everywhere.
Game of Thrones is everywhere.

THAT HIPSTER COFFEE SHOP
A book by an indie author (a shoutout).
I really don’t know of any indie authors. However, though he’s not self published, I’d recommend my good friend, Ashley Capes. I read The Fairy Wren by him but he also has The Bone Mask trilogy. Ashley’s writing is superb and he’s such cool guy. And a bonus: he has a great appreciation for music and Studio Ghibli productions.

OOPS! I ACCIDENTALLY GOT DECAF
A book you were expecting more from
If you read my review you can tell I was terribly disappointed in Bloodlines. Another huge disappointment from 2015 was A Whole New World, which read like plagiarized fan fiction for most readers. You can read my review for that one here if you’d like.

Bloodlines

THE PERFECT BLEND
A book or series that was both bitter and sweet, but ultimately satisfying.
The Clockwork Princess is hands down my favorite conclusion to a series. Honestly, even better than Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows for me. The epilogue for Harry Potter was a little too neat and happy (though maybe readers needed something to alleviate all the pain caused by all the events in the past 6 books). Although I am very happy the main three survived. But, I don’t know, it wrapped up too cheesy?

GREEN TEA
A book or series that is quietly beautiful.
I was pleasantly surprised by how much I ended loving Anna and the Swallow Man. The writing is quite convoluted and hard to get into at first but it does leave a thought provoking message by the time you close the book.

CHAI TEA
A book or series that makes you dream of far off places.
The Students Across the Seven Seas series. I’ve talked about this series before in 2015 when I was still doing the meme, Exploring My Bookshelves. It’s just a nice series for preteens or teens that would like to study abroad. The fictional accounts almost always feature a swoon worthy romance.

EARL GREY
Favorite classic.
My all time favorites are East of Eden, Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, and Lord of the Flies.
