The Coffee Book Tag

Coffee Book Tag

I was tagged by Shelumiel at Bookish and Awesome to do The Coffee Book Tag back in June and I’m finally getting around to posting it. This tag will sort of be like the Burrito Bowl Book Tag where I didn’t exactly eat burrito bowls (the vegetarian ones aren’t that fun) but could still relate to the bookish questions. I don’t usually drink coffee unless it’s sugared up. Some evidence:

coffee

(The middle photo is hot chocolate by the way.) But I haven’t had one of these in a while. After my first cavity in 2015… I’ve completely given up on sweets believe it or not. So yeah! Now, I’ve returned to my bout of excessive tea drinking. I already glanced at the questions and noticed there were some for people that appreciate tea. Hurrah. Oh and before I forget… Thank you for the tag, Shelumiel! (I hope you’ve been enjoying your travels with work.)

Note: This is a 2015 tag, meaning I was first tagged in 2015. I’m just trying to go through all the awards and tags from my 2015 queue. But I am an tag/award free blog in that I won’t be doing any more tags/awards after I go through the 2015 drafts. Sorry for the confusion!

BLACK
A series that’s tough to get into but has hardcore fans.
I think for me it would be either A Song of Ice and Fire (better known as Game of Thrones) or Outlander. I believe I have both of the first installments to those series on my Goodreads TBR but I doubt I’ll ever pick them up. The books are humongous. However, I know they are much adored.

PEPPERMINT MOCHA
A book that gets more popular during the winter or a festive time of year.
Why, of course, these holiday anthologies:

HOT CHOCOLATE
A favorite children’s book.
My personal favorite would be Millions of Cats. I think I’m more of a dog person now but I really loved cats so much growing up. We had this black and white neighborhood cat when I was a kid. I fed her everyday; she was so adorable!

DOUBLE SHOT OF ESPRESSO
A book that kept you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.
The Hunger Games, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The Clockwork Princess, and Blood Promise to name a few.

STARBUCKS
A book you see everywhere.
Game of Thrones is everywhere.

THAT HIPSTER COFFEE SHOP
A book by an indie author (a shoutout).
I really don’t know of any indie authors. However, though he’s not self published, I’d recommend my good friend, Ashley Capes. I read The Fairy Wren by him but he also has The Bone Mask trilogy. Ashley’s writing is superb and he’s such cool guy. And a bonus: he has a great appreciation for music and Studio Ghibli productions.

OOPS! I ACCIDENTALLY GOT DECAF
A book you were expecting more from
If you read my review you can tell I was terribly disappointed in Bloodlines. Another huge disappointment from 2015 was A Whole New World, which read like plagiarized fan fiction for most readers. You can read my review for that one here if you’d like.

THE PERFECT BLEND
A book or series that was both bitter and sweet, but ultimately satisfying.
The Clockwork Princess is hands down my favorite conclusion to a series. Honestly, even better than Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows for me. The epilogue for Harry Potter was a little too neat and happy (though maybe readers needed something to alleviate all the pain caused by all the events in the past 6 books). Although I am very happy the main three survived. But, I don’t know, it wrapped up too cheesy?

GREEN TEA
A book or series that is quietly beautiful.
I was pleasantly surprised by how much I ended loving Anna and the Swallow Man. The writing is quite convoluted and hard to get into at first but it does leave a thought provoking message by the time you close the book.

CHAI TEA
A book or series that makes you dream of far off places.
The Students Across the Seven Seas series. I’ve talked about this series before in 2015 when I was still doing the meme, Exploring My Bookshelves. It’s just a nice series for preteens or teens that would like to study abroad. The fictional accounts almost always feature a swoon worthy romance.

EARL GREY
Favorite classic.
My all time favorites are East of Eden, Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, and Lord of the Flies.

Lord of the Flies was probably one of my favorite school assigned readings. It also helped that it was a shorter reading assignment, which was a nice break from longer texts. (; And right! The Hunger Games was such a thrilling trilogy. I want to reread them someday; it’s been years. 😛

Thanks so much for tagging me! I don’t drink coffee either, I am more on the side of Team Tea! (or hot chocolate … especially the one with little marshmallows in it) but the questions seem like a lot of fun!
I’ve actually gone through 4 out of 5 books from the Song of Ice and Fire and I don’t know how I did it … the 5th one just conquered me and I can’t seem to finish Outlander either. I love the shows though and I know there are so many fans. I admire them for reading those books!

Yay, for being on the tea team! At the time when I made the post I wasn’t much a coffee drinker when it came to bitter coffee. But since my sweets ban started I’ve resolved to black coffee. I love it now! And nice, that is pretty awesome since they’re massive books. I do have the first books in the series (both Song of Ice and Fire and Outlander) on my Goodreads TBR but I doubt I’ll ever read it. 😛

I am with you on the A Song of Ice and Fire. On a spur of the moment buy I got the box set and I tried to read the first book and couldn’t even get passed half way. The multitude of character POV’s is too much, especially when i have to read the thoughts of a character I hate haha.

That’s hilarious. I collected a lot of series in which I’ve never read but heard marvelous things. The perils of buying box sets (sometimes they’re cheaper than buying separately though). I have the first A Song of Ice and Fire book on my Goodreads TBR but I doubt I’ll ever read it. 😛

I maybe only one of the few human beings who never really liked the smell of coffee. But yay, there’s tea in here!

I have tried reading Game of Thrones and I stopped at that first book. TBH, I wouldn’t probably understand it that much if I hadn’t watched the series. Just looking at Outlander and its thickness make me exhausted so I really adore those who got through those 500+ paged-book with tiny letters! 😀

Oh my, that’s really interesting! I had a friend that love the smell of gasoline and nail polish remover. We all have our unique quirks! Haha, for some reason all these avid readers are telling me they gave up on Game of Thrones books. As for Outlander, it’s more likely for me to read that one but I’ve been spoiled for some of the events. ):

Oh! I thought my dislike for Bloodlines was an unpopular opinion. I’m relieved to hear I’m not alone though. I knew it wasn’t going to be like Vampire Academy going into it but I guess I had really high expectations. Adrian is still hot as ever though. 😛

Glad to hear that you’ve managed to stick to your no-sweets diet. I could never do that! I’m so sad that you’ll have to give up those green tea frappucinos though! I’m not a coffee drinker either but will totally be doing this tag. Maybe later this week? Noooo, I’m sad to hear that Bloodlines was disappointing for you. I’m slowly buying the VA books so that I can marathon them. I heard from Chooi that Adrian is her ultimate book boyfriend, so I wanted to read VA in order to read Bloodlines. I’ll give them a go anyway…

Hehe, I can imagine that. I mean you love your pastries (and I love seeing them on your personal Insta)! But my sweets ban didn’t really last long because I got a green tea frappe this month, heh. And LOL, Adrian is like everyone’s book boyfriend. You’re going to love him, I think. And I hope you enjoy the VA series! The first book is only okay (I may have given it 3 or maybe even 2 stars) but they get considerably better. The third book, Shadow Kiss, is my favorite-like an all time favorites favorite. And, yes, Bloodlines wasn’t for me but that could be because I had extremely high expectations. I did like the two next installments in that spin-off series much better though!

What a fun tag Summer! I don’t drink coffee much but this is making me crave it! I see Game of Thrones everywhere too, but I haven’t picked it up (don’t know if I will). I found Bloodlines disappointing too, but I kept on reading and I really liked Fiery Heart! That was really the peak of the series but it kind of goes downhill again.

Game of Thrones looks so intimidating. The books are massive and I’m not sure how I’d like reading the POVs of the antagonists. Those segments would probably annoy me a lot. And thanks for the heads up! I’ll continue to read Bloodlines then. And nooo, for some reason I’ve noticed that that was the same pattern for VA. I thought Vampire Academy itself was a 2 star read but then it got really good (my favorite with Shadow Kiss) and then it fell flat again towards the end. :/

I’m with you on the Game of Thrones series and yup, it’s like EVERYWHERE which is kinda a bit frightening! 😛 I loved reading your answers, as always. But as I’ve already done this tag, back in April I guess so I’m gonna skipity skip it but nonetheless thaaanks for tagging me! 😀

Thanks for the tag! I’m not much of a coffee drinker but I do love me a good frapp from starbucks when the weather is humid 🙂 Aw I liked the Harry Potter ending, yes I agree it was a bit cheesy but I think the trio deserved it after all they’ve been through. I did want to read A Song of Ice and Fire series but I don’t think I’ll be able to manage it. I love the TV show though!

Almost everyone that commented mentioned they weren’t a coffee drinker. I find that super interesting since most readers love coffee but I guess there’s tea. And hehe, Starbucks has me hooked for sure-espeically with their star system. I think I have the first A Song of Ice and Fire book on my Goodreads TBR but it’s very unlikely I’ll ever really read it. XD

Well coffee gives me coffee breath XD I grew up drinking tea. Yes a lot of people do love coffee. I mean if its from starbucks then it tastes good! I want to try pumpkin spice latte, heard so many good things about it! Haha I had that was my TBR as well but then I deleted it lol
