Top Ten Tuesday: Series I’ve Been Meaning to Start but Haven’t

Hey all! I’ve fallen into a blogging (and reading) slump of sorts hence why I haven’t been that active on here these past few weeks, but I hope that you all are doing well and having a swell June so far. Anyway, today I thought I’d make a brief comeback by posting a Top Ten Tuesday post because I find that bookish memes are perfect remedies for blogging slumps. Plus, the last time I participated in a Top Ten Tuesday feature was… back in October 2016.

And in case you haven’t heard of Top Ten Tuesday before, it’s a weekly feature created by the team at The Broke and the Bookish where book bloggers can share a list of books that pertain to a theme or prompt. This week’s topic is “Top Ten Series I’ve Been Meaning to Start but Haven’t.” But because my TBR pile is sky high I’ll actually be including more than 10 series in mine… Don’t judge. XD

Chaos Walking trilogy

I haven’t read any Patrick Ness but of all the sci-fi series on my TBR list the Chaos Walking trilogy is my most anticipated one to read since the reviews on Goodreads promise that this series is nothing short of superb. I’ve also heard that it induces a rollercoaster of feels for readers, too.

The Dark Artifices trilogy

To my great shock, I still haven’t started my copy of Lady Midnight. I preordered it back when it first came out in early 2016, but, unfortunately, I never made time for it. This is a big surprise to me since The Infernal Devices trilogy is my ALL TIME FAVORITE YA fantasy series. (Jem Carstairs is my bae.) And I loved The Mortal Instruments series when I read it as a teenager. (Believe it or not, I was Clary’s age then. Gee, time sure flies.) Anyway, I don’t plan to prolong returning to the shadowhunter world for much longer though. Lady Midnight is in my TBR pile for this summer!

Throne of Glass series

I didn’t exactly love A Court of Thorns and Roses and I found A Court of Mist and Fury problematic but way more enjoyable than book 1 all the sex scenes aside. (You guys know that I’m quite a prude and can’t appreciate NA or graphic sex in books… Those explicit, mature romances just aren’t for me apparently.) I know that the Throne of Glass series is Sarah J. Maas’ YA fantasy series so I believe there should be a more mild romance with. Despite the polarizing opinions I’ve seen surfacing around the blogosphere about this series, I’m looking forward to reading it sometime soon.

The Maze Runner series

To be honest, I’m on the fence about The Maze Runner. I remember looking up quotes on Goodreads for this series once and the prose and dialogue really threw me off; it wasn’t really my style and I was really turned off from wanting to read it. But I already have all the books in the series and it’s not like I’ve completely lost interest in the premise so I probably will read it eventually… in the far future.

Ugh, so I was MAJORLY SPOILED for the ending for this series… and I’ve already seen the first movie. So this is another one of those 50/50 type of series where I’m debating whether I should or shouldn’t read.

Legend trilogy

The Queen of the Tearling trilogy

The covers and spines for the books in this series is absolutely stunning, which was why I bought them. I don’t really know what this is about other than that it’s a fantasy though, haha.

Yona of the Dawn manga series (MAL)

The anime series is excellent so when I found out the manga was getting serialized in America, I knew I had to start collecting the graphic novels. I’ll binge read the series when I have more of the volumes.

Orange manga series (MAL)

I have extremely high expectations for Orange after all the praise it’s gotten since its release! There’s also an anime and live action film, but I don’t want to see either of those until I’ve read the series. (Bonus: it’s a relatively short manga series, running at only five volumes.)

A Man Called Ove “series”

This pick is a bit of a cheat for two reasons. I’ve actually already read a few chapters of A Man Called Ove but just haven’t finished it yet. Also this “series” isn’t really one since the other sequels aren’t exactly continuations from the first book but rather spin-offs so I’ve heard. But I thought I’d include this one anyway since I want to give my list more variety than just YA titles.

To Kill a Mockingbird duology

This made it on here because it’s one of the few classics that is a series. For some reason, none of the English classes I was in in middle and high school had this as part of their assigned reading. (All my friends that went to school with me but had different teachers read it though, lol.)

So that’s my completed list! Indeed, I did have to recycle a lot of my old photos for this post since I didn’t have the proper lighting to take new photos when I was writing this up.
